Blaye, located on the Gironde estuary, is a place rich in history with a growing vibrancy. Once a key stop for travelers heading to Bordeaux or the Iberian Peninsula, it is renowned for its citadels designed by Vauban, which are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. This project aimed to modernize and unify Blaye’s image to better reflect its contemporary character while honoring its heritage.

Challenges
Blaye’s previous visual identity was outdated and inconsistent across different media, resulting in a fragmented and dated image of the city. The challenge was to create a modern identity that reflects both its rich historical heritage and current dynamism, while improving visual impact and communication coherence.

My approach
The logo draws inspiration from traditional emblems (coats of arms, shields) to highlight Blaye's unique features and heritage. It combines elements such as a tower representing the citadel, a stylized grape cluster for the vineyards, the estuary, and a key symbolizing the lock of the city. These elements together form a modern and distinctive symbol.
The chosen color palette—warm shades of Bordeaux red and orange—evokes the vineyards, earth, and authenticity, reinforcing the visual connection to Blaye’s historical and geographical identity. This color scheme adds depth and warmth, celebrating the city's heritage while asserting its contemporary dynamism.
